Theme interpretation – “Timeless”

Project Description:

DOOM is a timeless classic — simple, fast, and endlessly fun.
For this Unity Game Jam, I wanted to celebrate that feeling by recreating the spirit of DOOM using Unity’s own legacy assets.

I actually wanted to create this kind of game for quite some time so I might have stretched the game jam theme to fit my idea into it :D I wanted to add so much more but making this in 48h required cutting a lot of what I have planned to add.

Assets used:

Built with the “4.2_Stealth – Unity Through the Ages” asset pack, I transformed the char_robotGuard model into 2D billboard sprites, built the level by reusingthe textures and sounds from that pack to craft a short retro FPS.  I have added pixelation effect using a full screen render feature in URP and played around with lighting to make it feel like an older game.

The project combines classic gameplay mechanics — walking, shooting, and keycard-locked doors — with Unity’s modern tools like URP pixelation and the new Input System.

Goal: 

 Defeat all enemies and find the blue card to unlock the final room.

*In the last room I planned a boss fight but I had to cut the scope :)

Controls:

  • Move: WASD / Arrow Keys
  • Shoot: Ctrl / Left Mouse Button
  • Interact: Spacebar
